Starbucks China Company Limited (“Starbucks China”), together with its Affiliates (collectively “Starbucks,” “we,” “our” or “us”) is committed to the protection of your privacy and Personal Information.
We may process your Personal Information when you (i) purchase and/or use products and/or services Starbucks offers in mainland China, (ii) browse and/or use Starbucks Online Services; and (iii) participate in the Starbucks Rewards Program and/or any other programs that Starbucks may launch in mainland China (“Starbucks Products and/or Services”).
This Privacy Policy (the “Policy”) is intended to describe the Personal Information that we may collect, how we may process such information and the methods in which you can exercise your rights in such information. We also hope that this Policy will help you decide whether to provide your Personal Information to us.
What Personal Information Does Starbucks Collect?
To provide you with basic functions of Starbucks Products and/or Services such as order services and online shopping on Starbucks App and Starbucks WeChat mini program, we need to process your necessary Personal Information. If you choose not to provide the aforementioned necessary information, you will not be able to normally use the basic functions of Starbucks Products and/or Services. If you refuse to provide the Personal Information that is optional to be filled in or provided by you, we may not be able to provide you with certain features that rely on such information, however, in such case, your normal use of basic functions of Starbucks Products and/or Services will not be affected.
Starbucks may collect your Personal Information in the following scenarios where Starbucks Products and/or Services are available. Any Sensitive Personal Information that may be involved in such scenarios is marked in bold and underlined to draw your attention. If you provide any Personal Information of any other person(s), you should ensure that you have obtained authorization and consent from such person(s).
If Starbucks needs to collect your Personal Information in a scenario not described in this Policy, we will provide you with separate rules regarding the processing of Personal Information in such scenario, and any matters not expressly described in such rules will be governed by this Policy.
Starbucks China Official Website
In order to display our products and/or services when you browse Starbucks China Official Website, we may collect the information contained in the service log of your device, including IP address and information about (i) your Internet service provider; (ii) the device used to receive our services (the type of browser or operating system you use), (iii) your browsing (the links you use to access Starbucks China Official Website, URL of the webpages you visit on Starbucks China Official Website and specific services and features you browse or use), (iv) the language used; and (v)date and time of the visit.

When you purchase and/or accept Starbucks Products and/or Services through third-party online platforms that collaborate with us (such as: Tmall, Jingdong, Douyin, Eleme/Koubei, Meituan, AMap and other platforms), we will collect your Personal Information based on the relevant policy of such third-party online platforms. The types of Personal Information we collect will depend on the types of Starbucks Products and/or Services you purchased and/or accepted as well as the settings of such certain third-party online platform, which include the name, address and contact details of you or your designated recipient and the relevant order information.
Starbucks Brick and Mortar Stores
When you purchase and/or use Starbucks Products and/or Services through Starbucks brick and mortar stores or through other offline channels designated by Starbucks, we will record your order information if you use your MSR Card and/or Starbucks Gift Card.

How Do We Process Your Personal Information?
Starbucks will only process your Personal Information collected for the purposes as set out in this Policy, including:
(1) accepting and processing your orders and payments, and delivering Starbucks Products and/or Services;
(2) processing and analyzing the information about the Starbucks Products and/or Services that you purchase or use and your transaction behavior to deliver personalized content and recommendations for you;
(3) upon your consent, contacting you to obtain your comments on Starbucks Products and/or Services;
(4) processing your inquiries and questions regarding Starbucks Products and/or Services, and responding or communicating with you;
(5) analyzing and summarizing data statistics about your visits to Starbucks Online Services;
(6) managing and communicating with you regarding job opportunities and specific positions available at Starbucks if you have provided us with your personal profile or submitted your resume online;
(7) verifying your identity and updating our records for protecting the security of your Starbucks Rewards Account or any other legitimate purposes (for example, when you need to reset the password for your Starbucks Rewards Account);
(8) upon your consent, sending communications to you on brands, products, events and promotions plan via email or other contact details you have provided, and interacting with you on or in relation to these communications or any related matters by Starbucks or Starbucks’ suppliers;
(9) issuing tax invoices to you upon request with the information that you provide; and
(10) helping you register a Starbucks Rewards Account by using an account you registered with a third-party platform and the Personal Information saved thereunder or, if you have registered a Starbucks Rewards Account, associating your Starbucks Rewards Account with an account you registered with a third-party platform, at your option; or helping you create a Starbucks Rewards Account.
If Starbucks needs to use your Personal Information for any other purposes not described in this Policy, Starbucks will separately obtain your consent before using and processing your Personal Information for such purposes (except as otherwise provided for by laws or regulations).
How Do We Use Cookies, Web Beacons and Similar Technologies?
We may use Cookies, web beacons and other similar technologies to collect the usage information when you use Starbucks China Official Website and/or Starbucks App.
Cookies are small data files a website may store on your hard drive. Among other things, Cookies help us improve our websites and your experience. We use Cookies to identify the preferred fields and features and calculate the number of your visits to our websites. In addition to Cookies, we also use web beacons and other similar technologies. Web beacons are electronic images that may be embedded in our websites or emails. We use web beacons to deliver Cookies, calculate the number of your visits, know your usage, measure the effectiveness of our marketing events and find out if an email has been opened and/or acted on.
If you are not willing to accept Cookies, please change your browser settings to disable Cookies or to notify the user when Cookies are received. If Cookies are disabled, you may not be able to use certain features of Starbucks China Official Website.
How Does Starbucks Authorize the Processing of Your Personal Information, Share Your Personal information with Third Parties and Transfer or Disclose Your Personal information to Third Parties?
Authorized Processing
In order to provide Starbucks Products and/or Services to you, we may engage third-party service providers to assist us in our relevant operations and services. In the course of doing so, such third-party service providers may process your Personal Information in order to realize the functionality of our products and/or services, including:
(1) SMS delivery service provider;
(2) software and system technology service provider;
(3) marketing, research and data analysis service provider;
(4) map service provider;
(5) invoice service provider; and
(6) website/system server hosting service provider.
Sharing with Third Parties
1、 Starbucks may share your Personal Information with third parties such as partners. Our partners include the following types:
(1) Payment Institutions: In order to fulfil your order, we need to provide WeChat, Alipay or UnionPay with your order number, payment amount of the order, time of payment, Starbucks store number and merchant number to enable them to confirm your payment instruction and complete the payment:
(2) Courier/Delivery Service Providers: In order to fulfil your order, we need to share the recipient’s name, contact details, address and order information provided by you with the following courier/delivery service providers to provide delivery services to you:
(3) Third-Party Co-promotion Platforms: When you purchase and/or accept a Starbucks Rewards Kit, which may include benefits provided by the following third-party co-promotion platforms, we will share your mobile phone number with them for you to enjoy such benefits provided by such third-party co-promotion platforms:
(4) Third-Party SDKs: Third-party SDKs are embedded in Starbucks Apps and Starbucks WeChat Mini Program to provide and optimize our services. Such third-party SDKs collect your Personal Information when helping us provide comprehensive services to you. All such information will be transmitted on a de-identified basis. We will take necessary measures to control the collection and use of your Personal Information by such third-party SDKs to effectively protect your Personal Information. Please refer to Appendix I – Third-Party SDKs Description attached hereto for the identities of third parties, the types of SDKs, the types of collected Personal Information and the purposes of collection and links to the third parties’ privacy policies, etc.
2、In order to comply with applicable laws and regulations and to protect the rights, property or safety of you or other Starbucks customers, Starbucks and its employees, we may provide your Personal Information to government agencies, regulators and law enforcement authorities.
Transfer of Information
Starbucks will not transfer your Personal Information we collect to third parties without your prior consent. However, if Starbucks is otherwise involved in a merger, acquisition, asset sale or restructuring, Starbucks may transfer your Personal Information to the parties involved in such transaction. If such event occurs, we will require the parties that receive and possess your Personal Information to continue to abide by this Policy. Prior to transferring your Personal Information, we will send you a proper notice containing the names and contact details of the receiving parties and will ensure that your Personal Information will be protected in manners consistent with this Policy. If the receiving parties change the purpose or method of processing your Personal Information, we will require that the relevant data receiving parties obtain your separate consent again.
Disclosure of Information
We will disclose your Personal Information to the extent as permitted by the applicable laws and regulations if we believe that such disclosure is necessary to respond to a public health emergency or otherwise necessary to protect the lives, health and property of Starbucks customers, the public or Starbucks employees in an emergency.
Protection of Minors
Starbucks cares about and strives to protect the privacy of individuals under the age of 18 (the “Minors”) and does not intend to collect the Personal Information of Minors. However, we are unable to identify the age of the users in certain circumstances because date of birth is not mandatory information to be provided to us for users to use Starbucks Products and/or Services. Therefore, Minors shall neither register an account (including a Starbucks Rewards Account) nor provide us with their Personal Information such as their names, addresses or telephone numbers, etc.
What Communications Will a Member of Starbucks Rewards Program Receive?
If you are a member of Starbucks Rewards Program, in order to effectively run the Starbucks Rewards Program and protect your rights and benefits in your MSR Card and Starbucks Rewards Account, we will send you communications related to your MSR Card and Starbucks Rewards Account and/or exclusive to Starbucks Rewards members (please refer to Starbucks Rewards Program Terms and Conditions for detailed information) (“Starbucks Rewards Communications”). If you are not willing to receive Starbucks Rewards Communications, please apply to cancel your Starbucks Rewards Account in accordance with the terms and conditions that you accepted when registering your Starbucks Rewards Account.
If you are a member of Starbucks Rewards Program, you are entitled to choose through the Starbucks China Official Website or Starbucks App whether to receive the communications (including promotional information regarding the Starbucks Products and/or Services) from Starbucks or Starbucks’ suppliers other than the Starbucks Rewards Communications.
If you do not wish to receive such communications, please log into your Starbucks Rewards Account on Starbucks China Official Website or Starbucks App to set your “Communications Subscription Preference”. As to the Starbucks China Official Website, please manage your preferences through “My Account” – “Profile” – “Settings”; as to the Starbucks App, please enable or disable the “Privilege Notification” through “Me” - “Settings” - “Notification and Privacy” – “Subscribe” to manage the notifications regarding member rewards or new promotions. If you disable these notification features, you will not receive further notifications of member rewards or new promotions, but you may continue to receive Starbucks Rewards Communications to secure your rights and benefits.
How Can You Autonomously Manage Personalized Promotions?
In order to provide you with more convenient, better quality and purpose-fitting services, we will provide personalized displays and recommendations of relevant products, services or promotions in the Starbucks Products and/or Services through algorithm based on your Personal Information (for example, the recommendations that are tailored to your preferences on the splash screen of Starbucks App, the pop-up window on the homepage and content spot at the top of the homepage of Starbucks App, as well as in certain sections in Starbucks App, including “Making each day rewarding” and “Inbox”, and provide coupons and other promotion information through text messages and in-site message push, “Personalized Promotions”).
In the realization process of the above-mentioned Personalized Promotions, we might, based on the information and transaction behavior of your purchase and usage of Starbucks Products and/or Services, including your Starbucks Reward Program information, transaction information in your Starbucks Reward Account, and other relevant information regarding the use of Starbucks Products and/or Services (such as browsing history and geographic location), conduct comprehensive statistics, analysis and understand your preferences through information system and algorithm, etc., and eventually realize the Personalized Promotion based on your preferences.
You can autonomously manage the Personalized Promotions. If you do not wish to receive the Personalized Promotions, you can disable these features by tapping the “Personalized Push” button through “Me” - “Settings” - “Notification and Privacy” - “Personalized Notification” in Starbucks App. After such features are disabled, we will no longer show you any personalized content or recommendation based on your preferences on the relevant pages or sections in Starbucks App, and we will only display generic content or recommendation that is not tailored to your preferences on such pages or sections.
How Can You Access and/or Modify Your Personal Information?
You may access and edit your Personal Information following the below instructions:
Starbucks China Official Website: You may access or edit your Personal Information through “My Account” - “Profile” - “Personal”.
Starbucks App: You may access or edit your Personal Information by tapping your profile picture through “Me”.
Starbucks WeChat Mini Program: You may access or edit your addresses or invoice titles and access other Personal Information you registered by tapping “My”.
You may further provide the date of birth after the registration is completed. The date of birth submitted by you will be final and cannot be edited in order to enable you to enjoy the benefits and discounts available to you in accordance with Starbucks Rewards Program Terms and Conditions.
Members of Starbucks Rewards Program shall only be able to edit their username on Starbucks China Official Website and Starbucks App once.
For any other Starbucks events in which you participate, the types of information which you may access and edit and the methods for such access and edits should be subject to the terms and conditions that you have agreed to when you participated in such events.
How Can You Obtain A Copy of Your Personal Information?
You have the right to obtain a copy of your Personal Information. If you need a copy of your Personal Information collected by us, you can obtain it through “Me” - “Settings” - “Notification and Privacy” - “Personal Information Export”, and you can also contact us at any time through “Online Chat” in Starbucks App or via the contact details set forth in “Questions and Feedback” in this Policy. Under the premises that such request is in compliance with applicable laws and is technically feasible, we will provide a copy of your Personal Information to you upon your request.
How Can You Delete Your Personal Information or Cancel Your Account?
You have the right to request the deletion of your Personal Information if: (1) we no longer provide products or services to you; (2) we have no lawful basis for collecting your Personal Information or you withdraw your consent; (3) we process your Personal Information in violation of our agreement with you; (4) you cancel your account; or (5) we violate provisions of laws or regulations in collecting or using your Personal Information. You may contact us and have your information removed with the help of our customer services through “Online Chat” in Starbucks App or via the contact details set forth in “Questions and Feedback” in this Policy.
If you wish to cancel your account, you may tap “Delete Account” button through “Me” – “Settings” – “Account and Security” and submit the account cancellation application. You may also contact us via the contact details set forth in “Questions and Feedback” in this Policy and have your account cancelled with the help of our customer services. After you cancel the account, we will remove or anonymize your Personal Information, unless otherwise required by applicable laws and regulations.
How Can You Withdraw Your Consent?
With respect to your Personal Information we collected based on your consent, you may grant or withdraw your authorization or consent at any time. You may change the scope of your authorization to us to further collect your Personal Information or withdraw your authorization by removing information, disabling device functions or contacting us via the contact details described in “Questions and Feedback” of this Privacy Policy. You may also fully withdraw your entire authorization to us to further collect your Personal Information by cancelling your account. Please note, however, that we may not be able to respond to your request for the withdrawal of your consent or authorization with respect to certain types of Personal Information, such as information necessary to enable the essential features of Starbucks Products and/or Services or information necessary for us to fulfill our obligations under applicable laws and regulations. Except in such cases where we are unable to respond, after your consent or authorization is withdrawn, we will no longer process the relevant Personal Information, but your decision to withdraw your consent or authorization does not affect our processing of Personal Information that we have previously carried out based on your prior consent or authorization.
When you request to exercise any of the above rights or otherwise make complaints, we will verify your identity and respond with a solution or result within fifteen (15) business days.
How Long Will Your Personal Information Be Stored?
We will store your Personal Information collected by us in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
If you are a member of Starbucks Rewards Program, we will store your Personal Information related to Starbucks Rewards Program for the duration of your Starbucks Rewards Account and a reasonable period thereafter, unless as otherwise provided by the mandatory requirements in accordance with applicable laws and regulation with respect to the period for storing such information.
Where Is Your Personal Information Stored?
Your Personal Information that we collect in mainland China will be stored in mainland China.
To manage our global businesses and maintain the level of our services, we will, only to the extent necessary and subject to the compliance with applicable laws and regulations, transfer the Personal Information we collect to countries and regions outside of mainland China, and/or allow the Personal Information stored in mainland China to be accessed by countries and regions outside of mainland China. We will fulfill our obligations related to the cross-border transfer of Personal Information in accordance with the requirements set forth by applicable laws and regulations, and obligate by contract or otherwise to ensure that the recipient should protect your Personal Information by exercising a degree of care and diligence no less than that as set out in this Policy.
Information Security
Starbucks highly regards and is committed to protecting the security of your Personal Information. To prevent unauthorized edit, access, disclosure, use or deletion of your Personal Information, we will take reasonable and practicable security protection measures consistent with industry standards and retain appropriate personnel to protect your Personal Information from the technical aspect and the organizational structure aspect, respectively.
Upon the occurrence of an information security incident, we will take proper and necessary measures in response to such incident in accordance with laws and regulations.
Amendments to the Privacy Policy
We may amend this Policy from time to time. If we amend this Policy, we will publish the amended Privacy Policy through the relevant channels such as Starbucks China Official Website, Starbucks App or notification via email. We encourage you to check for any amendments to this Policy regularly.
As of the effective date of the amended Policy, if you purchase or use Starbucks Products and/or Services in mainland China or visit, browse and/or use Starbucks China Official Website, Starbucks App and/or any of Starbucks Online Services or participate in Starbucks Rewards Program and/or other events launched by Starbucks in mainland China, it will be deemed that you have fully understood and accepted the amended Policy. We will still ask for your consent based on your usage in relation to the personal information that was not authorized prior to the amendment of this Policy and not necessary for the purpose of realizing the basic functions of Starbucks Products and/or Services.

DEFINITION
Personal Information
“Personal Information” refers to various kinds of information, recorded electronically or by other means, relating to identified or identifiable natural persons, excluding information that has been anonymized.
Sensitive Personal Information
“Sensitive Personal Information” refers to Personal Information that, once leaked or illegally used, is likely to cause infringement upon the human dignity or harm to the personal or property safety of natural persons, including biometric recognition, religious beliefs, specific identity, medical health, financial accounts, personal whereabouts and other information, as well as the Personal Information of minors under the age of 14.
Starbucks Online Services
The term “Starbucks Online Services” used in this Policy refers to services provided by Starbucks through its own website or mobile application, or through Starbucks-related stores on third-party platforms, including:
